A San Diego Labor Day weekend full of fun!
Having a blast in San Diego this Labor Day weekend!
Labor Day is a national holiday that brings crowds to San Diego to play in the sun, BBQ with family and friends, and participate in the nation-wide party. But, what is Labor Day? In addition to good weather and fun times, what are we celebrating? Labor Day celebrates the contribution of the American worker throughout history. As well, it's Harbor sunset, which marks the first official day of the football season in the NFL and San Diego college as well as the last day that it's acceptable to wear white and see-sucker. I choose to ignore this rule. How should we celebrate Labor Day? I can tell you that working is not the solution!
This national holiday can be celebrated in many ways. Here are my suggestions!
This Saturday, August 30th, from 2pm-12am, there will be the annual SoCAL Music Festival! There is something special about the lifestyle of Southern California, which is filled with sunshine, beautiful people, playful attitudes, great music, art, and a variety of activities. The South Beach vibe will fill the streets of East Village on Labor Day for an unforgettable event. The event will feature five blocks with four stages where local musicians will perform. Organizers of this annual event gather athletes from all over the state and bring them to Oceanside's gorgeous beaches. This is its 85th year. The race will start at 7:30am on Monday, Sept. 1st at Oceanside Pier, and proceeds will go to the Oceanside Swim Club.
The U.S. Sandcastle Competition is coming back to San Diego this weekend in a different location. The Sandcastle building challenge will now take place at the B Street Pier downtown instead of Imperial Beach! Visit this great event to see the most amazing sandcastles in the world. The best artists around the world create 3D sandcastles that'll knock your socks off. No plastic shovels or buckets here. Teams from Italy, Portugal, Sand CastlesCanada, California, and more will compete in San Diego from August 29 to September 1!
